🌟 Why Use VIP Tiers?

VIP tiers help you:

  • Increase customer retention β€” Shoppers are motivated to keep purchasing to maintain or reach higher tiers.

  • Encourage higher spending β€” Tier-based rewards incentivize customers to spend more to unlock better benefits.

  • Differentiate customer experiences β€” Offer premium rewards and perks to your top-tier members.

  • Boost brand engagement β€” Creates a sense of exclusivity and achievement for loyal shoppers.

  • Enhanced Earning Rates - Higher tier members often earn more points per dollar spent, accelerating their rewards accumulation.

  • Exclusive Rewards - VIP members may have access to tier-specific rewards not available to other customers.

πŸ’‘ Example:
A customer spends $1,000 and moves from Silver to Gold, gaining access to higher point multipliers or special discounts.

βš™οΈ How VIP Tiers Work

Each VIP tier represents a spending or points milestone. When customers meet the requirement, they automatically advance to the next level and unlock its associated benefits.

You can configure:

  • The qualification criteria (points earned or amount spent)

  • The benefits for each tier

  • How and when tier progress resets

🧩 Setting Up VIP Tiers

1. Enable VIP Tiers

In the VIP Tiers settings:

  1. Toggle the Status to β€œEnabled” to activate tier tracking. (You must upgrade from free plan to unlock VIP Tiers)

  2. Once enabled, Line Loyalty automatically calculates customers’ tier progress based on your chosen criteria.

  3. Under Tiers calculation, choose how tiers are calculated:

Total points earned β€” Customers advance based on points accumulated.
Total amount spent β€” Customers advance based on their total spending in your store.

  4. Set Tier Progress Expiry

You can control how long customers retain their tier status.

Options include:

  • Never reset β€” Customers stay in their tier indefinitely.

  • End of the calendar year β€” Progress resets annually, encouraging consistent engagement.

  • After X months β€” Tier progress resets after a set period of inactivity.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Annual resets are great for seasonal loyalty programs where customers aim to maintain their VIP level each year.

2. Define Tiers

You can create multiple tiers β€” e.g., Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Use Add VIP Tiers to button to add new Tiers.

Each tier includes:

The name displayed to customers on your storefront

The minimum spend or points needed to reach this tier based on your setting

Benefits

Rewards customers receive upon reaching this tier (e.g., amount discount, percentage off, free shipping, or free product)

Silver

Gold

🎁 Adding Tier Benefits

When editing a tier, click Add Benefits to assign specific rewards that unlock once the customer reaches that tier.

You can choose from the same Ways to Redeem options used in your loyalty program:

  • πŸ’° Amount Discount

  • πŸ“‰ Percentage Off

  • 🚚 Free Shipping

  • 🎁 Free Product

Customers will see their available benefits in the loyalty widget and also on Loyalty page which you can build using our Loyalty page blocks.

πŸ‘€ Customer Experience

  1. Customers automatically start at the lowest tier (e.g., Bronze).

  2. As they earn points or spend more, they progress to higher tiers (Silver, Gold, etc.).

  3. Upon reaching a new tier, they instantly unlock new benefits.

  4. Tier progress is visible in their loyalty profile, keeping them motivated to climb further.

πŸ’‘ Best Practices for Merchants

  • Offer progressive value: Make each tier more rewarding than the last.

  • Combine with exclusives: Offer free shipping or special discounts for higher tiers.

  • Use expiry strategically: Reset annually to re-engage customers year after year.

  • Brand your tiers: Customize names and icons (e.g., Explorer, Adventurer, Elite) to match your store theme.

  • Communicate milestones: Send automated emails when customers level up to celebrate their progress.
