Require referral customers to create an account

The Referral Customer Account Settings in Line Loyalty determine how referred friends can claim their rewards when they receive a referral link.

This setting allows you to choose whether customers must create an account before redeeming their referral reward, helping you balance ease of participation with data collection goals.

⚙️ Where to Find This Setting

Go to Line Loyalty Dashboard → Referrals → Additional Settings.

You’ll see two options for referred friends:

  1. Without creating an account

  2. With creating an account


🧩 Option 1: Without Creating an Account

Recommended for:

  • Quick participation

  • Frictionless onboarding

  • New customer acquisition

When this option is enabled:

  • Referred friends can claim and use their reward immediately after clicking the referral link.

  • They don’t need to sign up or log into an account but they must need to enter the email to get the discount.

  • A Shopify discount code is generated and which they can apply to cart to get an instant discount on their next order.

💡 Example:
A referred friend clicks their friend’s referral link and receives $10 off their first order — without needing to create an account.

Benefits:

  • Simplifies the referral process

  • Increases participation rates

  • Ideal for stores focused on customer growth


🧩 Option 2: With Creating an Account

Recommended for:

  • Building customer profiles

  • Encouraging long-term loyalty

  • Stores that track rewards through accounts

When this option is enabled:

  • Referred friends must create a customer account before they can claim their referral reward.

  • Once they create an account, they’ll automatically receive the reward in their loyalty dashboard.

💡 Example:
A new shopper creates an account after clicking a referral link. Once registered, they get 10% off their first order.

Benefits:

  • Collects valuable customer data

  • Links referral rewards to accounts for tracking

  • Encourages future engagement in your loyalty program

💡 A Referral Discount is a one time discount code per customer.
